  • The issue of holding member’s checks too long, before depositing them in the bank, was discussed, as well as solutions to get them deposited in a more reasonable amount of time.

SOCIAL MEDIA CHAIR – JUDY NORDSTROM

Judy has agreed to be the CLD Social Media Chair. Welcome, Judy!

SCHOOLING SHOWS

  • Dates have been set for our 2020 schooling shows. Icebreaker will be held on May 2 and Firecracker on July 11.

  • Teresa will manage both schooling shows.

  • In light of the recent increase in number of participants and long show days, as well as a shortage of stabling, a discussion was held as to the feasibility to hold two-day schooling shows. The conclusion was that the added expenses would out-weigh the benefits.

DIRECTORS AT LARGE

  • Paula is hosting Melanie Michalak clinic at Pratense Farm on February 15-16, 2020. Rides will be $105 each. Please contact Paula.

  • Paula informed us that the dates for the 2020 Illinois Horse Fair are March 6-8.

  • Melanie is doing a freestyle clinic at the 2020 Illinois Horse Fair.

  • The Illinois Horse Fair is hosting a freestyle competition on Saturday afternoon. It will be open to Dressage, western dressage, reining and costume categories and will have an overall Champion. The contest will have its own warmup.

  • Paula asked that CLD sponsor the freestyle event at Horse Fair. Marilyn suggested that the sponsored amount be set at $200, as we have done in previous years. A vote was taken and a majority was obtained through text messaging. The motion was unanimously passed.

NEW BUSINESS

  • Teresa asked for suggestions on having a social event this winter. After some discussion, a decision was made to hold a pot luck get-together at Pretense Farm on February 15, from 4-7pm. CLD will provide the main meat dish. We will have a Valentine theme and try to entice more youth to attend.

  • The question of whether to try the CLD clothing line again was presented but tabled for a later time.

THANK YOU JUDY!

Teresa, on behalf of the CLD board, presented a beautiful, embroidered Eddie Bauer jacket to Judy Nordstrom for her 6 year tenure as President. Judy was surprised and elated. She promptly put the jacket on, which fit perfectly.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:17pm

Respectfully Submitted,
Judy Nordstrom for Leslie Burket
