CLD Board Meeting Minutes January 30, 2022

President Teresa Litchfield called the meeting to order at 3:00pm.

Attendees included: Leslie Burket, Marilyn Weber, Alice Martin, Tae Erickson, John Simpson, Judy Nordstrom, and Theresa Jones. We have two new members – please welcome Theresa Jones and Tae Erickson as they join the CenterLine Board group!

And a warm welcome to all!

Having seven participating members, we are able to vote!

CLASSIC SHOWS

  • There will be no Classic Show this year as a new Classic show date was not negotiated.

SCHOOLING SHOWS

  • Discussion on partnering with ARAB Inc, and their April 23rd and April 24th show was led by President Teresa. This show will replace our IceBreaker Show that we typically hold in late April. Teresa asked John what ARAB, Inc wanted CLD to provide and how CLD would profit. Marilyn suggested that ARAB, Inc pay a percentage of each schooling show ride. John suggested that it might be easier to just pay a flat rate to CLD of $500.00, for securing the volunteers needed for their April 23rd and 24th ARAB, Inc Show (Ring Stewards, Scribes and Scorers etc). Theresa Jones motioned that ARAB, Inc. pay CLD $500.00. Judy Nordstrom seconded and the motion carried.

  • Alice suggested that we hold a Scribing class to help with recruiting new volunteers! Leslie lead the last scribing class we had many years ago and it was a huge success!! Teresa asked Leslie if she would be willing to hold another class before the ARAB, Inc show. Leslie will check her availability and get back to us.

  • Discussion moved to the FireCracker Show and schedule. The dates are June 25th and June 26th and the show will be held at the Fairgrounds. Alice Martin has volunteered to secure two judges for this show. Feelers are out for a Show Manager.

  • CLD will sponsor the dressage/eventing clinic at Horse Fair this year. The $200.00 fee includes a business membership and one table. Motioned by Judy Nordstrom and seconded by Marilyn Weber. Motion carried.

  • Omnibus: Goal is to update the omnibus prior to Horse Fair on 3/5/2022. If there are any questions, Jeanne Craver is a wonderful source of knowledge! Tae motioned to accept the following rates for this season (per show): Stabling – $85.00/show, Office Fee – $25.00, Each Class Fee – $25.00. Judy Nordstrom seconded and it carried.

MISCELLANEOUS

  • On Sunday, February 13th, at 1pm, we (The CLD Board) will be hosting a Valentine Potluck and membership drive to be held at StarWest! It will be a fun event for all ages! There will be lots of fun games, yummy food and awesome people, all wanting to play games and eat! Everyone – spread the word — fun for all!

Reader

  • The Reader, CLD’s newsletter, is a great place to share some of your experiences such as winning an exciting class and why it was special! Or rehabbing a ‘down in the dumps, unwanted horse that pulled your heart strings – and it becomes an amazing journey!’ Maybe it is that special award . . . you never expected! How does it influence or change something new? You just don’t know until it happens to you! Go for the GOLD! We all have something we can share . . .

  • Alice Martin is accepting articles, etc, for the newsletter until February 26th 2022. She would love to have an article from you!

Our next meeting will be Sunday, February 27th at 7:00pm. Marilyn motioned and Judy seconded to adjourn the meeting at 4:05pm.

Respectfully Submitted,
Leslie Burket
