June 2016

Hello Friends and Members,

CLD member Jenna Upchurch is, as of time of publication, the top-ranked Junior rider in the country on Greystoke.

Even though summer is not officially here, it is here! The summer heat is on and show season is in full swing. Our CLD Classic shows are just around the corner, so send your entries in and get those qualifying scores! We are always looking for volunteers to help out at the show. Contact Kim Jones, our volunteer coordinator for more info. There is still time to sponsor classes for the show. Forms can be found on our web site. All donations are tax deductible! CLD wishes everyone a great show!

Don’t forget that Lilo Fore will be giving a two-day clinic after judging our Classic shows the weekend of June 25-26. Come audit the clinic and benefit from a worthy educational opportunity with a world class instructor. Make sure to reserve lunch as well!

Congratulations to John Simpson for running the first stand alone Arabian Sport horse Regionals in the country! This show was held in May at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, hosted by ARAB, Inc.

The competition to make the Region 2 FEI JR/YR Team is at a fever pitch with qualifying ending June 20, 2016. This year’s NAJYRC’s are being held at the Colorado Horse Park in Parker, CO. As you can imagine, the cost to ship horses and other travel costs for your Region 2 riders and Chef will be much higher than in the past. To this end, I would ask each of you to consider donating whatever funds you can to help offset the cost. The JR/YR prospects are working hard to create income generating activities; however, your help would be greatly appreciated. Please send checks to the USDF office and be sure to note on the check that the funds should be made out to the USDF Region 2 JR/YR account. Don’t forget all donations are tax-deductible.

If you’d like to support CLD’s own Jenna Upchurch from Region 4, you can donate to the Region 4 Jr/Yr team.

Lots going on this month! I hope you all have a safe and successful show!
