BEGINNINGS OF CLD.

CenterLine Dressage, a Group Member Organization of the U.S. Dressage Federation, began with three dressage instructors and their students who came together in the fall of 1972 at Elaine Powell's, now Gibala, Golden Miss Stables in Fisher, IL. Alice Martin of Watson came with several of her students as did Genelle Bishop (now Royer) then from Peoria. From this nucleus eventually sprang seven chapters: East, South, North Central, Springfield, Jacksonville, Quad Cities, and Great River Classical Horsemanship Association. Two chapters became GMOs themselves and the Chapter system was abandoned in the middle of the first decade of the 21st century.

Today CLD hosts a rated dressage show at the Illinois State Fairgrounds every June plus two schooling shows. With a membership of approximately 60 riders, CLD offers free clinics as well as clinics with a fee to members.

CenterLine annually schedules social events in addition to educational opportunities, potlucks with a program, the Awards Banquet, and the holiday party are a big part of the social calendar for CLD.
